Job Description

The Accountant provides financial reporting guidance and assistance including month end close activities, accounting policies, financial analysis, annual budgets, compliance, and capital management.

Ensures accuracy and timely submittal of the monthly financial statement, verifies all monthly journal entries and related schedules are accurately completed.

  • Prepares monthly journal entries.
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Review and analyze monthly Hospital key indicators.
  • Review and analyze monthly Hospitals bad debts, contractual allowances and other areas of estimates.
  • Identify and analyze unusual "swings" or changes Income Statement or Balance Sheet items.
  • Prepare pro-forma for service line analysis and capital projects.
  • Responsible for accurate review of GL accounts and GL reports
  • Assist in preparing month end financial packet for Board.
  • Responsible for updating productivity system and providing accurate monthly reports.
  • Assist in compiling monthly department operating statements to department managers.
  • Assist department managers in reviewing operating statements and understanding reports.
  • Issue miscellaneous invoices for physician rent and DeSoto County Sheriff
  • Process request for employee health claims funding for benefit coverage
  • Assist CFO with auditing, budgeting and special projects as necessary.
  • Assist CFO in the monitoring of Hospital financial performance by reviewing and analyzing of monthly financial statements.
  • Assist CFO in the monitoring of Hospital financial performance by reviewing and analyzing annual Hospital budget.
  • Assist CFO in the monitoring of Hospital financial performance by reviewing and analyzing monthly Accounts Receivable Balances.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting/Finance.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
  • Must be advanced Excel user (includes pivot tables, vlookup, charts/graphs, etc.)
