Position Summary



Summary:
Responsible to the Simulation Center Director or Designated Institutional Official and Associate Vice President of Nursing and Professional Practice Development. The Technician of the Simulation Center participates in the day to day operations of the Simulation Center and coordinates interdisciplinary simulation activities across all clinical departments. The Technician is also responsible for maintaining simulation equipment and maintenance of supplies/inventory.


Position Details



  • Perform tasks during the set-up, operation and break down of various clinical patient simulators, to include low, mid, and high-fidelity simulators, task trainers, basic task trainers, and related medical equipment necessary for providing a highly immersive clinical training environment.
  • Conduct equipment inventory, operations, control, basic troubleshooting, maintenance and updates (including hardware and software).
  • Operate and maintain audiovisual equipment used in simulation-based clinical training.
  • Support and assist in role-playing applications, props placement, and moulage set-up to create a clinical simulation-training environment.
  • Utilize technical documentation materials of best practices and standards for use in clinical simulation equipment. Assist in or recommend the development of enhancements to clinical simulation technologies.
  • Assist in the utilization of standards and practices of metric, analytic tools and methodologies to assess effectiveness of clinical simulation.
  • Provide guidance and advice to staff regarding simulation and training equipment operations, procedures, and basic maintenance as well as interface with equipment vendors and technical support staff as needed.
  • Compile, distribute, gather, audit, scan, and electronically file all required documents to support accredited national training events and other activities. in collaboration with Simulation Coordinator.
  • Access and manage project data and documentation in tracking systems with guidance in simulation resources from staff and faculty to maintain accuracy, security, and integrity of data; access, print, prepare and analyze periodic and special reports for assigned projects.
  • Prepares, integrates, and provides support low, mid, and high-fidelity simulators, and associated equipment.
  • Maintains current professional development in simulation technology.
  • Assists Director/Coordinator of Simulation Center with the maintenance of inventory of supplies and for simulation equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains equipment, audio visual, computers, and materials related to simulation learning with support as needed.
  • Operates all simulators, audio visual equipment, and computers for simulations under guidance of Director/Coordinator of the Simulation Center.
  • Supports other simulation sessions, trainings, and participate in tours for internal and external groups and/or individuals.
  • Serves as a resource and assists with training instructors and staff in the use of simulation equipment under the direction of the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintains simulation operation manuals and guides in conjunction with Director/Coordinator of Simulation Center.
  • Completed other duties as assigned.



Qualifications & Experience



Education Essential: Associate Degree
Nonessential: Bachelor Degree

Experience Essential: 2 years of experience related to simulation technology or simulation lab experience.

Preferred: Allied health experience (such as a Paramedic/EMT/RN, etc.) with simulation experience
