Job Description

Torah Tots Preschool serves children 6 weeks to 5 years old. We provide nurturing, loving care while building a strong community. We are committed to helping families raise well-rounded and self-confident children ready with refined social-emotional, motor, and cognitive skills as they progress to the next level.

Assistant Teacher – part time, infant room

To provide a warm, nurturing, safe, and loving environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality is respected. To aid the Lead Teachers and the Director when needed. This is an incredibly unique role. This candidate must be flexible, understanding, hardworking, and goal oriented. Perfect for someone who is looking to learn a new profession and grow into the role of Lead Teacher. This position will start primarily as an assistant to the Lead Infant or Toddler teacher with growing as the center grows. 1 year in a childcare center preferred.

Responsibilities

  • To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both the individual and the group.
  • To interact with the children and to encourage their involvement in activities.
  • To prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing which permit’s the child to grow and explore.
  • To use appropriate and positive discipline and to train the aide so that discipline is consistent.
  • To assist with lesson plans based on a curriculum outline. To provide input to program.
  • To observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.
  • To assist with the maintenance all records and files.
  • To establish and maintain good communication with parents through monthly staff, monthly theme calendars, parent/teacher conferences, and on a daily informal basis.
  • To work with other staff in attaining program goals and developments with children, parents, and administrators.
  • To attend staff orientation, staff meetings, class programs, and other functions.
  • To assist with preparation of material needed in the program.
  • Help The Director in established tasks and projects when needed.
  • Be open to learning new concepts, show flexibility and understanding and a willingness to grow with the center.

Education

  • Must have a High School Diploma, GED or HSED.
  • Experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center is ideal.
  • Standard DCF courses may be required if not already current, such as Mandated Reporter, CPR, Abusive Head Trauma, ECE Courses or equivalent.

Salary

$14-$20/hr depending on experience and qualifications
