Associate Accountant

LOCATION

Richmond, VA

Lynchburg, VA

Remote US (Eastern and Central Time Zones)

This position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond or Lynchburg, Virginia in-office applicants with a hybrid work schedule or remote applicants residing in states/locations under Eastern or Central Standard Time: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington DC, Vermont, West Virginia or Wisconsin.

YOUR ROLE

You will lead daily and monthly balancing and reconciliation process and reporting for USLI, support monthly close processes and perform accounting processes for the Controllership team.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Perform quarterly account reconciliations preparation and review
  • Submit State and Federal deposits, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually
  • Submit filings and response to letters from State and Federal agencies
  • Complete monthly close processes including journal entries, analysis, balancing and reconciliations
  • Monitor and review suspense accounts on a weekly, monthly, quarterly basis
  • Assist associates in accounting discrepancies including providing research and guidance on admin system processes and general ledger
  • Support, monitor and maintain RPA (robotic process automation) bots and coding of automation processes
  • Lead process improvement initiatives including organizing teams, requirements gathering, solution identification, issue resolution and process implementation
  • Support and complete KPMG and GCAS audit requests
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Participate as a surge resource as needed

MUST HAVE / WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent accounting experience
  • Process improvement experience from a functional perspective
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Advanced Excel and Oracle Financials reporting skills
  • Motivated team player
