Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented
Biomedical Engineer to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute on Aging (NIA) located in Baltimore, MD.
Overall Position Summary and Objectives
The purpose of this position is to support research inside our laboratory including data acquisition, data analysis, and lab preparation.

Work Details:
- Designs and develops biomedical equipment.
- Work with staff on assignments associated with utilizing biotechnology to improve and provide healthcare systems and devices. 1
- Coordinates the testing and analysis process.
- Manage the control and accountability of clinical and other in-scope related computerized equipment. 2
- Tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements.
- Complete unscheduled service orders for equipment to include calibration, electronic and mechanical repairs.
- Plan and execute modifications to make improvements as needed following initial use.
- Monitors biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Analyze, modify, plan, install, evaluate, certify and correct system malfunctions 3
- Maintain laboratory organization and assist in compliance with safety regulations.
- Provides technical training on equipment operations.
- Provide in-services for staff, interns, students and support personnel. 4
