Job Title: Photographer

Duration: Full Summer Season May 24th-August 6th

Reports to: Leads & Lead Supports

Position Description:

You will live in a dorm with up to fifteen fellow staff members. As a photographer, you will be a familiar person with our campers. For the camper, you are a source of guidance, support, comfort, care and fun. The Photography Position will include capturing moments through photographs and videos of daily life at camp. You will be responsible for taking daily photos and videos as well as testimonies from parents or campers, communicating with the grant writer about photo records of grant money in use and the entire editing and distribution of photos to families each camp session. The photographer also serves as a back up counselor for the dorms so you will be involved in the full length training week and will be expected to jump in if required. You must be prepared for a huge commitment of your time and patience.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Photography & Videography

  • Day programs: You will be in constant communication with program counselors and leads to ensure you are prepared with proper camera equipment for each activity. You will bounce from group to group in order to gain a variety of photos through the entirety of each program time block.
  • Night Programs: Work with Night Program Committees to set up space for either photo booths or areas to shoot from with proper lighting. Prior to program start, have equipment set up and ready. This includes an assessment of lighting, space, angles, and the nature of the activity being done.
  • Messy Programs: Working with Programming staff and leadership to plan accordingly to ensure the protection of all camera equipment.
  • Check-In & Check-Out Days: You will be given a short list or parents, families, campers, or staff who you will interview and record testimonies for.
  • Grant Photos: Discuss with the grant writer each week what activities, equipment, or campers need to be photographed for grant records.

Editing & Distribution

  • Editing Times: during dorm clean-up and shower time you will be expected to be filtering through photos deleting undesirable ones and editing the others.
  • Distribution: You will be added as an admin member on the Tatiyee Facebook groups for each week and will be expected to post photos from the previous day each morning.
  • Tatiyee is in need for high quantity & quality photos. We strive to ensure that every camper is photographed each day as these are the photos sent home for families to keep and show their friends. However, that should not impact the need for quality photos. There is an equal need for several high quality photos that should be edited and saved for marketing at the end of the summer session.
  • Editing of the testimonies must be done one week from the time they were recorded.
  • Collaborate with the executive director to provide photos and videos for Tatiyee’s social media accounts.

Campers

  • Aiding campers at meal time at your assigned table. (assist dining, cutting, food moderation, etc.)
  • Serving as a backup to all dorms as needed. This would include aiding and/or supervising campers in self-care skills as needed (dressing, brushing teeth, restroom utilization, showering, dining, etc.).
  • If necessary, covering dorm sleep out or rest hour duty.

Training Week and Pre-week Preparations

  • Full participation in Training Week. This includes, but is not limited to, classes, projects, planning, team builders, scheduled activities and pre-camp preparations.
  • Charge all camera equipment, communicate with performing arts counselor what equipment they will be using that week.

Staff Meetings

  • Sunday Meetings:
  • Full Staff- prepare to take notes and listen attentively to leadership & returners sharing pertinent information on specific campers needs.
  • Program Meeting- listen to all the programs planned for the week and discuss any adaptions needing to be done for photography
  • Night Program Meetings:
  • Night Program Committees consist of a Dorm Lead and Support as well as a team of counselors and one program counselor. This team will work collaboratively combining their various skills and knowledge. This is an opportunity to work with several departments and encourage creativity and enthusiasm among the full team.
  • Program Meetings:
  • Team Meeting- utilizing your insight gained throughout each week on campers, programs and full camp operations, pose areas for improvement along (with possible solutions), as well as identifying strengths in the lens of Tatiyee’s mission.
  • Friday Meetings: Practice active listening in the summarization of the week.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, Internship

Pay: $400.00 - $500.00 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Lakeside, AZ: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
