Your Role:
The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) supports the mission and vision of MaineHealth through integrating nursing science, computer science and information science as they relate to the efficient and safe delivery of patient and family centered care that is compassionate, evidence-based, and of the highest quality care. Reporting through the Application Support Manager, this role facilitates the integration of data, information and knowledge in clinical practice to support patients, nurses, and other providers in their decision making in all roles and settings. The CIS is actively involved in the planning, development, implementation and mentoring or clinical informatics training and education programs.
The CIS collaborates with MH Informatics, IS training and Regional Education teams in creating an infrastructure of support through classroom instruction, one on one coaching and support. The CIS works in collaboration with multidisciplinary patient care teams in performing workflow analyses and compliance audits to identify and address areas for performance improvement for efficiency, compliance and quality patient care. Collaborates with the Education Department to coordinate structured training schedules designed to meet the orientation needs of new employees and students and develop training curriculums to meet the needs of all learner types. Flexibility to work nights, evening and weekend shifts in support of special projects may be required.
