The student intern selected for this role will be responsible for assisting the Communications Office with planning, writing, and managing the Department of Public Safety's monthly eNewsletter.
Job duties of this internship opportunity will include:
- Assisting with the design of flyers, graphics, emails, and other marketing materials for major events
- Generating multimedia content for publication and web use
- Supporting outreach efforts through local events and online initiatives
- Gathering and analyzing data on the performance of NCDPS marketing and communications efforts
- Performing market research to support the execution of brand-related marketing projects
- Collaborating with Communications staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications
- Assisting with other job duties, as required
This internship will require the selected applicant to:
- Utilize excellent writing and communication skills to communicate in a professional manner with internal and external stakeholders, as well as community contacts
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Use a high-level of attention to detail in the performance of job duties
- Work independently and as part of a team (including with other team members who work remotely)

About the Communications Office:
The Department of Public Safety's Communications Office is responsible for producing professional graphics, photography, and media services such as training videos, public service announcements, or promotional campaigns for various divisions within DPS.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's. or professional-level program at an accredited North Carolina Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) majoring in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or English
- Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
- Applicants must demonstrate GPA by attaching a transcript (official or unofficial)
