Job Summary:

The Continuous Improvement Engineer primary responsibility is to focus on continuous improvement. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will also act as the Quality/Industrial Engineer focusing on developing and executing initiatives that advance safety, quality, delivery, and profitability for the organization. Responsibilities include monitoring, evaluating internal/external safety, delivery and quality metrics/information to determine areas of opportunity to improve. Prioritizes continuous improvement initiatives with leadership. Drive implementation of lean manufacturing methodologies. Lead process advancement projects, production flow changes, materials/logistics advances, work standard development and training.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze process and develop process improvements
  • Responsible for continuously optimizing safety, quality and delivery performance through the use of quality system, lean practices and industrial engineering methods
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing initiatives including Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to formulate/support innovation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities
  • Analyze and evaluate existing systems and processes, identifying value-added and non-value-added activities and design production processes that maximize efficiency and reduce waste
  • Evaluate and explore new and existing processes, equipment, and materials as an input to scheduling methods, performance metrics and financial standards.
  • Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost
  • Lead development and launch of new technologies, such as CNC equipment
  • Evaluate all building layouts and recommend improvements to product flow
  • Design and implement optimal station layouts that support the operator and maximize safety and efficiency
  • Develop and design robust manufacturing concepts to simplify, improve manufacturing processes to ensure best practices
  • Design and document layout of equipment, materials flows, and workspace to drive maximum efficiency
  • Train staff on processes and provide work instructions and manuals
  • Manage and conduct employee training for Lean and other productivity improvement projects
  • Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including quality management systems, best practices and training documentation
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of continuous improvement and quality experience
  • Training in LEAN, Quality Management Systems including Six-Sigma
  • In depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Proficiency with analytical tools, workflow time studies and process balancing
  • Ability to design and understand technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other HSE requirements.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related software including AutoCAD (or other CAD software).
  • Strong logic, critical thinking, strategic thinking, and reasoning skills to make independent decisions.
  • Knowledge of production processes, costs, quality control, raw materials and other methods for maximizing the efficient manufacturing and distribution of goods
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Demonstrate success in collaborating with teams in a professional manner.
  • Strong training, presentation, coaching and team development skills.
  • Ability to give clear and concise directions and objectives to others.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple duties/projects at one time.
  • Ability to lead large groups and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
