Job Description:
The Director of Procurement is a high-level, strategic role reporting to the Director of KY Operations. The Director of Procurement is responsible for making sure all direct material, such as castings and detail components used in assemblies, are ordered to the correct configuration and delivered to schedule. In addition, this person is responsible for assuring all product related outside service suppliers adhere to MTI’s purchase order requirements and their quoted turnaround times. The Director of Procurement works closely with Business Unit Managers to develop, implement, and utilize business plans and strategies to ensure facility and MTI goals are aligned and achieved.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage direct material and outside services Buyers.
  • Assist Buyers and Business Unit Managers with direct material schedules to ensure Customer requirements are met.
  • Assure the Direct Material and Components are ordered to the correct configuration requirements.
  • Assure the proper Customer requirements are flowed down to the suppliers on each Purchase Order.
  • Engage with the Suppliers, Customers and MTI Team members as necessary to address on all issues concerning delivery and quality.
  • Monitor the Suppliers monthly measurements and take appropriate action as required to address any deficiencies.
  • Travel to our Suppliers as needed to review and address delivery, quality, and tooling issues.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to legal regulations and guidelines.
  • Review Suppliers’ invoices and work with them and Accounting to resolve timely payment issues.
  • Assist MTI Team members in reviewing Customer Purchase Orders to assure the Raw Material and Components configurations are correct.
Requirements:
  • BSc/BA in Business Management or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus.
  • 10 years technical experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the Aerospace Industry.
  • Must meet ITAR definition of US Person(s).
  • Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, databases, and information systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internally without restriction and, upon request prior to travel, must be able to provide any documentation that may be required by the country of destination.
  • Must be able to work in a supportive team environment that is fast paced with a strong commitment to accountability.
  • MTI is a safety sensitive manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-employment drug testing will be required.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with hands, and arms, move throughout the facility and communicate.
  • Work in office environment and use of computer (typical 2-button scroll mouse and keyboard - 75% of the work day).
  • The employee may occasionally lift/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment occasionally may be loud. Must be able to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
