Job Summary and Qualifications

The Advanced Clinical Tech will be able to provide quality care to patients under the direction of the Medical Director in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Medical City Arlington. Reports to the charge nurse for shift assignments and direction of shift duties assigned. Each RN decides on a case-by-case basis what nursing tasks may be delegated to the unlicensed personnel in accordance with Rule 224 (relating to RN delegation in acute care settings or for patients with acute conditions).

What you will do in this role:

• Maintain clear communication with attending physician and licensed nurse assigned to patient about all patient care issues.
• Assist licensed nurse by communicating any information collected during their interaction with the patient or family.
• Receive patients from EMS personnel. Monitor patients for arrhythmias, document EKG strips, and report findings to licensed nurse assigned to patient. Measure and record patient’s input and output.
• Administer medication from Advanced Clinical Tech medication list, properly documenting the medication and effects, and clearly communicating with the physician and other members of the health care team assigned to the patient.
• Stock/check supplies and equipment.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects. As appropriate, keep patients informed of their treatment plan.
• Hang crystalloid IV fluids at prescribed rate, as ordered by attending physician.
• Chart on patient’s record as needed.
• Clean stretchers, closets, and cabinets as appropriate.
• Transport monitored and non-monitored patients to inpatient units and diagnostic areas.
• Tag and report broken equipment according to department policy.
• Assist physicians with central line insertions, lumbar punctures, defibrillation, cardioversion, chest tube insertion, thoracentesis, arterial lines, and suturing.
• Answer EMS radios and phones (only physicians can give orders to EMS crews).
• Learn the POC lab function

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP)
