BEI Construction is seeking a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Engineering Manager for our BESS division. As Engineering Manager, you will lead the project team through all facets of engineering-related project specifics and bridge the gap between engineering and field implementation. You will be a leader in the division and serve as subject matter expert on BESS engineering. This role will be hybrid, both in-office and remote, and will report to the General Manager of the division with periodic travel to jobsites located throughout California.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Responsible for preliminary engineering energy storage system design and layouts

• Provide planning, specification development, budgeting, and delivery support for various BESS and other related projects
• Assist with varying assignments within Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects to include engineering, construction, and support functions
• Support business development and procurement initiatives
• Manage interaction with external firms and correspondence with clients
• Assist BEI project teams, vendors, and consultants in executing project deliverables
• Provide guidance and direction to project team and affiliates, as needed
• Manage project execution of engineering design
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary activities and serve as BESS subject matter expert in all new business pursuits.
• Ensure that any scope, schedule, cost, or change of terms are handled in accordance to stated change order procedures
• Monitor project status to identify and troubleshoot problem areas to meet customer satisfaction
• Attend project team and client meetings
• Guide, direct and develop department design guides, standards, systems, processes, applicable engineering codes, and policies.
• Assist with technical decisions for complex engineering challenges
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and documentation
• Ensuring compliance with internal and industry standards and regulations
• Assist in development of project proposals
• Assist with BESS purchasing, as needed
• Maintain accurate files and records
• Other duties, as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

• Education and/or Experience:
  • Undergraduate degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering, or other related studies with 3 years’ work experience, or
  • 7+ years' experience in the field of engineering
• EIT or Professional Engineer license, preferred but not required
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to complete tasks and deliverables on time in a multi-tasking environment
• Experience in guiding teams comprised of different technical skill levels
