Environmental Compliance Analyst

- ENG000090 - Fully On-Site

Role Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist reports directly to the Sr. Manager, OEC and Governance at Oxnard Engineering Campus California (OEC). The role is responsible for maintaining compliance and providing business continuity with all relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements.

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist also actively promotes the company’s vision of integrity by displaying a positive attitude and behavior within the working environment.
Role Responsibilities:

Environmental, Health, and Safety - EHS (80%)

  • Maintains OEC compliance with government Environmental and OSHA regulations, VWGoA EHS protocols, current VWGoA task force directives.
  • Acts as the designated VWGoA Site Environmental Representative (SER) and deputy and chief assistant to the Sr. Manager
  • Interacts with local fire department personnel during inspections or emergencies
  • Conducts regular internal EHS site inspections, reports findings to OEC EHS committee members and seeks resolutions to findings.
  • Schedules California Air Resources Board Refrigerant Management Program leakage testing and submits annual reporting
  • Assures work related injuries are reported according to OSHA and VWGoA requirements
  • Manage emergency response to hazardous materials releases or environmental incidents
  • Resolves EHS audit inspection deficiencies and recommends improvements
  • Manages site universal/electronic waste compliance and disposal
  • Assures site compliance with California state recycling requirements
  • Maintains record keeping of EHS documentation.
  • Tracks Hazardous Waste Manifests and quantities to California Department of Toxic Substances.
  • Updates California Environmental Reporting System documentation annually or as needed.
  • Maintain site chemical Inventory of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) database
  • Tracks and assures timely scheduling of compliance related inspections in collaboration with the VWGoA facility management supplier.
  • Supports and provides feedback regarding VWGoA risk management systems relevant to EHS.
  • Interacts and aligns with APG EHS personnel to maintain and enhance synergies.
  • Continuous monitoring and follow-up of EHS opportunities for improvement.
  • Trains and guides staff members as required or to resolve immediate needs.
  • Ensures that installed systems are up to date and compliant with relevant regulations.

Facility (20%)

  • Supports OEC management regarding campus improvement projects.
  • Proposes and supports VW Group Go to Zero OEC targets
  • Other duties as assigned

Specialized Skills - Required:

  • Knowledge of State, Federal, and EPA legal/regulatory EHS requirements and programs
  • DOT/IMDG/IATA - Transportation of Dangerous Goods (Land/Sea/Air) Hazardous Materials Regulations (Training will be provided)
  • Experience in developing, managing and conducting facility Environmental inspections.
  • Working knowledge of environmental policies, procedures, and guidance to meet legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., EPA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, TSCA)
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems and standards (e.g. ISO 14001)
  • HAZWOPER

Specialized Skills - Desired:

  • Certified Safety Professional
  • OSHA 30
  • Spanish and/or German Language Proficiency
  • Familiarity with VWGoA Corporate EHS Processes and Procedures

Work Flexibility:

  • Work schedule based on business requirements (minimum 40 hours/week) including occasional overtime. Core work hours are 7AM – 4PM.
  • Domestic travel (average 1-2 times per year) required for business and training,
  • Commonly standing, walking, sitting, climbing ladders, and crawling.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexible to work late or odd hours

Compensation:

Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications.

In the state of California, the salary range is $71,400 - $98,200.
