Job Description Overview:

Human Resources Manager oversees the company’s most important asset: its people. The position has both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle Human Resources support to the operation of the companies. Human Resources Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of HR functions, policies, and procedures. Having an accountable, proactive, trustworthy, level-headed, and respectful person in this position is crucial. This person is also extremely detail-oriented, responsible, a strong communicator, and a good listener, and must maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and responsibility. With vast expertise in employment practices, workplace culture, learning and development, and payroll activities, the Human Resources Manager lead the HR team that supports the entire lifecycle of our employees.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provide leadership for HR overall functions.
  • Administer HR policies and programs to ensure compliance in employee relations, staffing, recruitment, termination, training and development, benefits, compensation, time and attendance record keeping, and personnel records administration.
  • Ensure a positive “open door” climate.
  • Manage all aspects of the HR department including administration, legal compliance, policy, and procedure enforcement.
  • Provide regular HR reports upon the reporting lines and timely inform about HR developments that may impact overall effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, government regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and coordination.
  • Work with the Safety Department on recruitment and onboarding of employees including the selection and hiring process.
  • Conduct background checks of employees being recruited.
  • Instruct managers on discipline procedures.
  • Properly document all the steps leading to the termination of an employee.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
  • Administer all company benefits.
  • Plan and conduct training on employees’ development initiatives ensuring a direct link to the business strategy.
  • Manage worker's compensation cases.
  • Record and track employee injury data as required by OSHA.
  • Process, assist, and administer payroll.
  • Address claims relating to labor standards.
  • Manage the entire personnel filing.
  • Plan and implement employee events, including social events.
  • Facilitate the Performance Management process by completing performance reviews.
  • Track and process employee time off, vacation, and sick time.
  • Process garnishments and child support orders.
  • Update Employee Handbooks and policy guides according to the state and federal legislative modifications.
  • Create a positive employee relation atmosphere.
  • Communicate in a manner designed to minimize conflict and foster a positive relationship between management and associates.
  • Strive to effectively solve problems for the mutual benefit of the company and its associates achieving effective conflict resolution.
  • Accountable for programs to promote retention.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to continuous company culture development and sustaining the business.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Relevant experience in Human Resources with a minimum of 5 years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with HR or Management emphasis or related field.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree would require 2 more years of HR or related management experience.
  • Transportation industry experience required.
  • Prevailing wage experience desired.
  • HR Certification (SPHR or GPHR) desired.

Pay:
  • The pay is competitive, depending on experience ($95k - $115K), and will be discussed during the in-person interview.
