The International Students and Scholars Office Assistant supports the international office with outreach to both foreign nationals and campus administrative staff (HR/department managers) to gather information required to process visa requests. Assists with researching information and gathering data when departments and international employees are delayed with, or unresponsive to, document or data requests. Assists with assembling and scanning documents into internal database for UCSF compliance. Notifies HR partners and foreign national when visa requests are approved.
This a contract position with an end date of 8/31/23.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) provides services in areas that support the social, cultural, and immigration needs of the UCSF international community. These services include developing inbound international mobility strategies and policies for the University, preparing immigration documents while ensuring adherence to pertinent government regulations, liaising with cognizant US government agencies, advising the international community on visa acquisition and compliance, collaboration with relevant UCSF units and creation of programs that enhance the international community experience. Our direct clients include international students, researchers, faculty, staff and administration as well as the UCSF community that supports them, such as Human Resources, department liaisons and principal investigators.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Skills to learn organization-specific and other computer application programs
- Basic communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
- Basic program and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
- Basic skills to analyze and research information and learn to synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail
- Acquiring knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques
