IT MANAGER – SYSTEMS AND SECURITY

JOB SUMMARY

Direct administration and continuing development of computer systems and network, maintenance of organization hardware, and security of organization systems. Collaborate with “IT Manager – Software & Support” to ensure efficiencies through the utilization of technology throughout the organization. Oversee hardware and services staff and initiatives in those areas.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Systems and Infrastructure Administration

Plan, purchase, implement, and maintain network and server software, including logins, endpoint protection, email, security, data access, storage and backup. Coordinate respective installations and upgrades.


Manage all computer network equipment and services, including servers, wireless access points, routers, firewalls, UPS, switches and cabling. Coordinate all changes and repairs and troubleshoot problems. Work in conjunction with vendors for additional needs and modifications to network infrastructure.


Research new solutions, focusing on enhancing staff productivity and security.


Oversee daily, weekly and monthly computer system maintenance and monitoring.


Document network configurations, server configurations, systems management, and installation instructions to ensure effective systems continuity, in event of an absence.


Routinely monitor expenses and utilization of telephone, internet and networking services. Search for and develop more cost effective solutions.


Collaborate with other it staff regarding management of all software installations on desktops, laptops and servers.


Develop and continuously adjust system redundancies and “Business Continuity Plan” and maintain appropriate documentation in the written plan. Design, implement and ensure that computer system backups are functioning properly, and in compliance with policies in the plan.


Maintain the organization telephone, voice mail system and telephone services. Work in conjunction with vendors for additional needs and modifications.


Security

Focuses on security aspect of software, services and systems. This includes managing and deploying security systems and as a reviewer of security aspects of current and future infrastructure and services.


Oversee computer access and account management, including internal and external account requirements for staff and contractors.


“I.T. Security Team” member - Serves on the internal security team to monitor system changes, maintenance, staff education and policies/procedures to ensure continual focus on cybersecurity. Works with the team to problem solve issues and determine appropriate responses to internal security issues or problems. Participates in the Annual/Quarterly internal security audits, and develops the processes used for these audits.


I.T. Department Support

Provide oversight and guidance to the I.T. Operations and Support Specialist, I.T. Technician.


Back-up to other staff in the I.T. Department to create cross-coverage for all department responsibilities.


Work with the department in developing recommendations to improve and enhance organization’s network, systems, end-user training/support and overall utilization of technology. Assist in implementing enhancements and solutions.


Serves on the internal security team to monitor system changes, maintenance, staff education and policies/procedures to ensure continual focus on cybersecurity. Works with the team to problem solve issues and determine appropriate responses to internal security issues or problems.


End-User Computer Support and Training

Assist organization staff with information system problems, including both on-site and after-hours phone support.


Work with staff to enhance usage of current computer systems and focus on future computer solutions to improve user efficiency and capabilities.


Develop training materials and deliver instruction to new end-users for computer services and applications.


Communicate with vendors (hardware and software) regarding enhancements and unresolved issues.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum associate’s level degree preferred: preferably in Information Technology related field.


Five years of recent computer development/administration required.


Three years previous management and supervisory experience preferred.


Extensive computer skills and experience with recent versions of Windows Desktop/Server; Active Directory, Group Policies, Linux Server, Microsoft Office; MS Exchange, MS SQL Server, VMWare/VCenter, and PowerShell.


Must be very comfortable managing Backup/Recovery/Security software, such as Veeam, Proofpoint, SentinalOne and WSUS.


Solid experience with hardware, including UPS, wireless, switch, firewall and router, preferable Meraki.


Strong ability to integrate a variety of systems.


Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.


Able to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language, to motivate and lead, and to work cooperatively with and supervise other staff.


Able to effectively communicate and document specific organization information related to position responsibilities.


Experience, training, and demonstrated skills in business organization and independent project coordination.
