Role Summary

The Maintenance Resource Planning, Director is the sole subject matter expert and thought leader in overseeing the financial performance and execution of staffing for Maintenance employees at Alaska Air to ensure that the workgroup is properly resourced to support the operation. As an individual contributor, this role designs and implements innovative solutions to address balancing costs, productivity, operational reliability, and staffing constraints for maintenance technicians, stores agents and other frontline groups within the Maintenance and Engineering division.

Key Duties

  • Establishes strategic goals and direction for the resource planning team to execute on staffing which has a direct operational impact.
  • Optimizes the use of tools and systems to leverage automation, create efficiencies and improve the company’s planning and execution of the bidding and awarding process for ground-based employees.
  • Improves upon the use of monitoring, analytics, and metrics to measure the health of staffing and planning-related processes.
  • Directs analysis related to our staffing strategy to ensure the staffing model is aligned with future growth and/or realignment.
  • Drives process improvement mindset across the Maintenance and Engineering team, leveraging project management and change management skills to deliver results.
  • Foster collaboration, transparency, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Forges strong relationships and communicates/consults with a range of stakeholders, including senior management, FP&A, maintenance training department, station leaders, and union leadership.
  • Models and encourages open, honest, and direct communications and open debate to achieve optimal solutions.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 10 years of resource planning, station operations, or related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in business administration, finance, or a related area, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • High energy, positive presence, and top-notch written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, project management, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a rapidly changing, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to facilitate a cooperative relationship both within the division, with other divisions of the company, and with AMFA union representatives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Experience building and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Staffing and productivity experience.
  • Knowledge of the airline industry.
  • Working knowledge of Alaska Airlines (AS) AMFA contract.

Salary Range

$145,900 - $226,100 / year

Salary Details

The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
