In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. ***This position will be in Kansas City, MO***
Engineers in this organization provide engineering support of highly technical and advanced manufacturing processes typically requiring specialized qualifications, knowledge, and/or skill. This engineer will perform project management, product engineering and process engineering responsibilities including development, evaluation, production, and quality control functions on complex engineering projects with mechanical and electromechanical assembly devices. While in the position, increasing roles of project leadership are expected with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
Additional Duties:
- Manages cross-functional product realization team to bring designs from concept through development, qualification and production
- Manages schedule, cost, and delivery performance
- Interacts and manages relationships with both internal and external partners and as well as product customers
- Refines product definitions, based on knowledge of manufacturing capability, to assure that released designs can be produced
- Influence quality acceptance and test equipment, and designs/manufactures tooling, gaging, and equipment necessary to assure product quality
- Plans and performs research and development experiments to resolve complex engineering and quality problems involving highly technical, scientific and statistical methods
- Analyzes processes, products, and inspection records to anticipate, identify, and correct problems and to establish quality levels and trends
- Determines acceptability of products and materials in conjunction with design agency, quality, and other affected organizations
- Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, makes recommendations for and initiates the most cost-effective improvements for product, test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flowtime
YOU MUST HAVE
- US Citizenship needed to obtain and maintain US Department of Energy “Q”-level security clearance
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program
- 2 years of experience in engineering or technical activities, such as manufacturing, inspection processing, or tool design, including application of advanced engineering principles and technology with complex technical assignments
