Job Title: Medical Assistant

Duration: Full Summer Season May 24th-August 6th

Reports to: Executive Director (ED)

Position Description:

As a Medical Assistant, you will serve as a resource to staff in the work environment and on a personal care basis. Medical Assistants are a vital role for the guardians of campers, therefore developing a connection with the families and evaluating consistency and transparency from the application to what is seen upon arrival is essential. It is expected that you treat campers and staff with kindness, dignity, and care customization based on the individual’s needs. As a health care provider you should be prepared to model by example in how you conduct yourself in medical care and bedside manner. Communication is what makes camp run smoothly, in the role of the MA it is one of the most fundamental parts of your job. Specific Job Responsibilities:

Training Week

  • Developing an inventory, working with the ED for acquisition of needed supplies.
  • Sterilizing and properly setting up the Infirmary with the RN's on staff
  • Development & Distribution of first aid kits, Lead packs, & dorm care boxes.
  • Participation in training for assist dining, lifting, redirection, team builders and risk management.

Pre-Week Prep

  • Reviewing campers for the upcoming week, developing MARS, and a notes sheet for leads and programming staff regarding pertinent information, (i.e. allergies, seizures, ect.)
  • During Check in the Nursing team will review medical needs and medications with the guardians of all campers, making notes of any changes. As well as performing a health screening of each camper before parents leave.
  • After the review, all medications will be collected, checked for accuracy, quantity, documentation, labeling and will be placed in an organized, designated and locked cupboard in the infirmary. (under supervision of RN)

Campers

  • Maintain campers’ files, supplies and daily record keeping.
  • Communicate with site team daily to ensure that all campers and staff receive appropriate care.

Meetings

  • Sunday Meetings: Highlighting details about campers that pertain to full staff; (I.E. behavior, allergies, medical flags, dining)
  • Nursing Team Meetings: Together, the nurses will reflect on the week and develop a plus and delta list of affirmations and areas of improvement for nursing and for camp operations as a whole.
  • Friday Meetings: Participate and listen actively Including reminders for the next week.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $450.00 - $550.00 per week

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
