Job Description
Under the supervision of Manager, assists in clerical support functions, maintains departmental records and files, prepares documents and correspondence, organizes inventory of office supplies and forms, and designs forms, graphs, etc. Assists with chart documentation. Assists with patient scheduling, registration and insurance verifications and obtaining authorization and/or referral for appointments. Education & Training: High school diploma or equivalency. AA degree in Business or healthcare administration preferred. Work Orientation & Experience: 2 -3 years experience in a medical office or related setting with computer experience; general knowledge of medical terminology; prior experience with insurance verification and scheduling required. EMR experience preferred.
Qualifications
Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent required. BLS certification required within 60 days of start date. Work Orientation & Experience: At least one (1) year experience in patient insurance verification/authorization/utilization review required. Prior experience in outpatient office setting and customer service required. Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement principles required. Previous experience in psychiatric office setting preferred. Skills and Abilities: Requires ability to work in fast paced office environment, multi-task, communicate professionally and clearly with guests, providers, and community agencies. Requires excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work independently. Requires flexibility to work with changes in task routines, assignments and processes. Requires ability to prioritize tasks in a continuously changing environment. Ability to use good judgment and respond to crisis situations calmly and appropriately. Knowledge of CPT/ICD9 and 10 Coding. Ability to operate various office machines and proficient with computers, Microsoft Word, and Meditech. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to sit for long periods of time.
