Overview:
Compensation: $38,000 - $54,000 based on experience and credentials
Work remotely from the following locations:
Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Florida
The Member Solutions Counselor consults with members to determine the reasons for loan delinquency on their past-due accounts. This individual offers recommendations to restore loans while minimizing credit union loss and increasing net recoveries. An ideal candidate maintains a positive attitude while using keen listening and communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize telephone, electronic, or written communication to reach members with past-due accounts
  • Perform financial analysis to determine reasons for loan delinquency and the member’s ability to bring the loan to a current status
  • Mentor Member Solutions Representatives to share knowledge
  • Communicate directly with members to discuss complaints and escalated issues
  • Identify, research, and resolve complex account problems for members
  • Reduce the financial exposure of the credit union by collecting on portfolios of high-risk loans or loans in the later stage of delinquency
  • Facilitate collection queues and specialty queues assigned daily by management
  • Implement credit union policies to offer suggestions or recommendations on how to restore loans to a current status
  • Recommend solutions such as payment extensions, due date changes, referral to outside consumer credit counseling, involuntary and voluntary repossession, or redemption
  • Ensure account information by documenting all account activity in the Member Solutions software
  • Administer corrections or refer accounts to the appropriate department for further research
  • Facilitate an assigned number of collection calls per day
  • Utilize information obtained from credit reporting, skip tracing services, and software to recover collateral or funds
  • Perform rights of offset on depository accounts and within guidelines, apply funds to delinquent or charged-off loans
  • Assist with training new employees in the Member Solutions Department
  • Assist with training credit union employees on Member Solutions policies and procedures
  • Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge and remain current with compliance guidelines
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of consumer collections experience with a financial institution
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
  • Ability to analyze and resolve routine problems or situations
  • Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
  • Ability to comprehensively communicate procedures, policies, and practices to reach an agreement with others
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
