Madison Core Labs is a state-of-the-art full-service independent clinical laboratory, and we are currently seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our team in Auburn, Alabama! Position Summary: Madison Core Laboratories Phlebotomist's are responsible for efficiently and accurately collecting blood and specimen samples for laboratory analysis. This position will be expected to work Monday - Friday (Working Hours could range between 7 am - 5 pm). This is a full-time position at our Patient Service Center located in Huntsville, AL

Candidate must have at least one year experience accessioning specimens; one year of phlebotomy experience preferred. Exceptional data entry skills are required. Experience in the medical field and some medical terminology is a plus.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Accessioner

  • Sign-in and receive packages from FedEx and samples from Couriers.
  • Receive and properly identify samples and sites where tests are performed.
  • Sort samples according to protocol. Perform initial data entry in LIS. Prepare samples for send-outs to reference laboratories. Record discrepancies and communicating these errors to Supervisor and Client Services.
  • Recognize potential errors when matching bottles and computer entry.
  • Make client calls for routine and complex discrepancies for retrieving patient information.
  • Perform QA, and specimen container check.
  • Perform initial data entry using a computer to enter patient and client data following standard protocol.
  • Perform scanning and imaging for billing.
  • Participate in improving department efficiency, quality, and cooperation. Resolve routine and complex questions and problems.
  • Ensure all Company safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Phlebotomist Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently collect blood and specimen samples- based on orders.
  • Administer Covid test.
  • Collect specimen samples for Toxicology testing.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Identify patients and their personal information using a form of ID and/or medical records.
  • Ensure quality and quantity of collected samples.
  • Label samples correctly.
  • Answer related patient questions and provide useful information.
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards while working.
  • Follows instructions and other duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to take payments.

Experience:

  • 3 years of related experience working in medical office environment highly preferred.

Education:

  • H.S. Diploma, Required

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Phlebotomy Certification, Preferred or
  • Medical Technician Certification with Phlebotomy training
