Product Manager – MV Apparatus Lines

Working as a Product Manager, you will be a key member of the marketing and sales team in Electrification Installation Products, defining product portfolio strategy, multi generational product development plans, including marketing communication, training and sales initiatives for Medium Voltage (MV) Apparatus products. Reporting to the ELIP Utility Segment Product Director, you will oversee all steps in the life cycle of products, systems or services, including development, launch, maintenance, pricing and profitability of Apparatus product lines in North America.

Your responsibilities

  • Drives the profitability and life cycle for Medium Voltage Apparatus lines (includes Switchgear, Reclosers, Vacuum Capacitors and Interrupters and Air Switches) by defining pricing guidelines and market position, and forward looking product development plans
  • Responsible for maximizing Gross Margin dollars for MV Apparatus lines, optimizing the price/margin/share/sales equation
  • Oversees inventory levels and sales volumes to ensure ability to meet customer orders, while tracking and analyzing the performance and trends of MV Apparatus lines
  • Collaborates cross functionally to propose and evaluate product feasibility projects and roadmaps, including Multi Generational Product Plans and Cost Reduction Initiatives for MV Apparatus lines
  • Ensures ABB’s value proposition for the target segment is developed and well communicated (internally and externally). Guides, coaches and develops the skills and knowledge of the sales team. Actively participates in the development of international standards and regulations by identifying and influencing the appropriate external bodies (including government, legislative bodies, technical and trade associations)
  • Partners closely with the HR (Human Resource) team to ensure that the MV Apparatus Lines product team is properly organized, staffed and directed

Your background

  • A Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering or equivalent and 5 to 7 years of experience in Product Development and/or Sales in Utility related markets, with Apparatus and/or Electrical Equipment related experience
  • Sound knowledge of Electrical and the NA Utilities market
  • Demonstrated experience in managing marketing and sales strategy
  • Knowledge and experience of SFDC and SAP
  • A collaborative, solution focused approach, with strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross functional teams
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
