This Community Program Manager will have the assignment of Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) Coordinator. MHSA PEI programs are designed to decrease stigma, increase suicide prevention awareness, and to prevent mental illnesses from becoming severe and disabling, with an emphasis on improving timely access to services for the unserved.
SYBH's MHSA PEI Coordinator is responsible for planning, supervising, coordinating, and implementing MHSA PEI activities and operations. Program coordinators collaborate with community agencies and organizations to facilitate program-planning activities and to coordinate and supervises the work in achieving program goals and objectives. MHSA PEI services are provided for all age groups. A key function of this role is to monitor program effectiveness; and coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, outside agencies, and the public.
The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill any future opening(s), including Part-Time and Extra Help, in this class for up to nine months.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other related duties may be required and assigned.
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of management necessary to administer and direct a major Health and Human Services program; basic supervision and employee development principles and practices; budget preparation; public relations, community needs and available community resources as they relate to the program; applicable laws and regulations; basic mathematics; and use of standard office equipment. Principles and practices of designated professional discipline with specific knowledge and expertise of assigned program areas.
Ability to: Plan, organize and assist in the formulation of policies for the assigned program; direct, control and evaluate a group of subordinate employees and maintain consistency with program objectives and standards; initiate, plan, organize, evaluate and coordinate work assignments with a minimum of direction and control; define problem areas and supervise the collection, interpretation and evaluation of data; validate conclusions, define and select alternatives; coordinate and initiate action necessary to implement recommendations; instruct and motivate individuals with diverse backgrounds and interests; establish and maintain effective interpersonal relations with clients, the general public and personnel at all organizational levels; work with community based organizations relevant to the managed program; interpret complex laws, regulations, and guidelines; prepare concise, logical oral and written reports and explain policies, procedures and/or recommendations on a wide variety of programs and management issues; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; prepare and maintain accurate records; respond to emergency situations in a calm and controlled manner; effectively deal with personal danger; and operate standard office equipment.
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, nursing, public administration or related field and three years of related experience, including one year of supervisory experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. A master's degree in one of the previously mentioned areas is desired.
Essential Duties require the following physical skills and work requirements:
Requires the abilities to maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of exercising sound judgment and rational thinking under varied circumstances; ability to see, hear, communicate orally, think and act quickly in emergencies and for conducting assessments; effectively deal with personal danger. Requires the ability to exert a small amount of physical effort in sedentary to light work involving moving from one area of the office to another; requires sufficient hand/eye coordination to perform semi-skilled repetitive movements, such as using a computer, typing, data entry or use of other office equipment or supplies; and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
License or Certificate: Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License.
