Visual Comfort & Co. is hiring a Sr. Purchasing Manager in Skokie, IL

The Sr. Purchasing Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of a dynamic group of purchasing professionals within the lighting industry. In addition to the day-to-day execution, the Sr. Purchasing Manager is responsible for effectively developing and implementing purchasing and supply chain strategies that align with Visual Comfort & Co’s overall business objectives.

Job Requirements:

• Manage and mentor a dynamic team of purchasing professionals
• Establish and implement purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures
• Negotiate and execute purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support business needs
• Manage material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on-time deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels
• Strategically develop and implement product and supply chain strategies, including new product development
• Drive usage of cost models to validate purchasing strategies to understand significant cost drivers
• Manage all activities that develop relationships with suppliers
• Report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms with suppliers
• Review and resolve any discrepancies with supplier invoices, grievances, claims, conflicts, product non-conformance, or quality issues

Qualifications:

• Ideal candidate will have a four-year degree, from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education
• 5+ years of full-time experience in a Senior Buyer/Planner/Supply Chain capacity handling offshore suppliers
• Top-level leadership capabilities
• Sound understanding of business and end to end Supply Chains
