Job Description:
Exciting opportunity exists for a Research Technician position in Dr. Baohong Zhao's research laboratory at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. The research technician will participate in basic biomedical research projects in osteoclast differentiation, bone biology/inflammation (osteoimmunology) and autoimmune diseases.
This position provides relevant training and experience for new college graduates intending to apply to graduate school, M.D. programs, or M.D.-Ph.D programs. Position is available beginning May 2023, and a two-year commitment is preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining and operating laboratory equipment
- Maintaining inventory of lab supplies and ordering material
- Carrying out wet-lab experiments which may involve molecular biology techniques, cell culture, histology, and animal models.
- Collecting, analyzing and rigorously recording experimental data
- Participating in laboratory meetings
- Training students and other lab stuff and supervising laboratory aides
- Assisting with preparation of manuscripts, presentations and other written documents
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular and Cell Biology.
- One or more years of experience in related laboratory research.
- Strong commitment to research work during 2 years.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and training.
- Must be consistent in research, self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
