Position Overview:
Lewis Jones, Inc. is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer with a passion for Highway Design to join our San Diego based team on a part time, hourly basis. This position is telecommute/remote work, however requires in person meetings in San Diego.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role, you will work on all phases of Transportation Projects, with a focus on projects within Caltrans Right-of-Way.
You will prepare or provide QC review of Caltrans stage construction plans or constructability reviews and PS&E documents. Due to your extensive Caltrans construction experience, you may meet with clients to assist with projects within or impacting Caltrans Right-Of-Way or visit project locations.
Supervision Received:
Report to President, Casey Lewis-Jones, P.E., on a daily basis.
Supervision Exercised:
Train staff to meet Caltrans requirements with high quality deliverables.
Qualifications & Skills:
REQUIRED:
Minimum 20 years of experience working on Caltrans projects.
PE certification in California.
Strong technical background, attention to detail and desire to produce high quality deliverables and design plans.
Construction experience and ability to provide QC reviews of stage construction plans, PS&E documents and constructability reviews.
Caltrans Highway Design experience and a strong understanding of the Caltrans HDM.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, PDF editing/commenting software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have a strong sense of urgency, time management skills, and a desire and ability to meet client deadlines

PREFERRED:
25+ years’ experience working on Caltrans projects, preferably in District 11
