Job Description

Our Mission

SPAN develops products that accelerate the rapid adoption of renewable energy in the home. The flagship SPAN Smart Panel is the first true evolution for the traditional home electric panel, harnessing enhanced technology for metering, monitoring, and control. An expanded product suite of intelligent, integrated solutions radically lowers the cost and complexity of energy upgrades–including solar, batteries and EVs–empowering homeowners to be active, resilient and informed players in the energy market.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced mobile engineer to build polished, user-friendly mobile applications. Our mobile apps are the key to unlocking the potential of the Span panel for our users by giving them insights and never-before-available control, from ease of installation to insights into energy usage of homes. As a senior mobile engineer, you will evolve the mobile experience and help build our apps into industry-leading customer experiences.

Responsibilities

As we are a startup, this list should be considered neither exhaustive nor complete. We are excited for people to explore responsibilities outside their normal areas of expertise if the need or interest arises.

Potential Projects

  • Build out easy to use but robust authentication that is secure enough for an app that controls the electricity of someone's home

  • Stand up features and notifications to help homeowners manage their energy usage, especially during power outages

  • Set up the app for multiple communication pathways including local wifi and bluetooth that allow seamless communication with the panel when away and at home, even if the wider internet goes out

  • Build out manual and automated testing and verification processes for our mobile apps
