OVERVIEW

We are seeking a talented Protein Engineer with hands-on experience in antibody/protein design to join the highly productive Protein Engineering group within Sanofi US Biologics Research. The position will work closely with experienced scientists in a dynamic, fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. Protein Engineering group has a great track record of patent and publication in the area of Fc engineering and multispecific antibodies. We have a state-of-art structure biology capability within the group, offering a unique opportunity to collaborate closely on Protein Engineering projects. This individual will play a key role in design and implementation of Yeast Display Campaigns for engineering of affinity, developability, epitope mapping etc. He/She will also represent Biologics Research Department in cross-functional project teams under minimal supervision. Previous experiences with YSD technology highly desired. Previous experience with multispecifics-antigen interaction is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement antibody screening campaigns using YSD technology for various antibody engineering efforts. Including, but not limited to, affinity tuning, pH-dependent protein-protein interactions, liability/developability engineering and fast epitope mapping.

  • Develop and optimize assays to screen the engineered biotherapeutics for improved biological properties, binding affinity and biophysical characteristics

  • Documenting and presenting experimental results, conclusions and interpretations at departmental and cross-functional project team meetings

  • Write scientific publications and present at conferences. Contribute to patent applications.

  • Represent Biologics Research (BR) Department in cross-functional project teams, coordinate/lead the BR activities, and work closely together with the Therapeutic Area Project Lead for milestone transitions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in biologic sciences, molecular cell biology, protein engineering, or similar, with 0-3 years of research experience in academia and/or Biotech/Pharmaceutical environment, in Biochemistry/ Bioengineering/ Structural Biology or a related discipline.

  • Self-motivated and highly collaborative to work in a cross-cultural, multidisciplinary, team-oriented environment with excellent communication and organization skills

  • Expertise in strategizing, designing and performing YSD campaigns.

  • Well-versed in protein engineering technologies and principles, including antibody/protein structure-function relationships, biophysical/biochemical analysis; Proven experience in antibody/protein design.

  • Familiarity in a wide range of screening assays and analytical methods, such as ELISA, ALPHAScreen, Octet, Biacore, HPLC, DSC/DSF, MALS ; Experience with high-throughput analytical methods is a plus.

  • Track record of scientific accomplishments as evidenced by a strong publication record

  • People management experience preferred, but not required
