RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate the daily operations of the Packaging Quality Lab functions for the Swing and Graveyard team.
  • Provide leadership, tools, and support to Quality team in the development and maintenance of self-directed work teams.
  • Safety meetings; participate in hiring of temp and full-time lab staff; conduct One-on-one with direct report; Performance reviews.
  • Manages routine lab activities and personnel in the analysis and evaluation of wines through chemical, physical, and microbiological tests to achieve optimal quality and stability of finished package product. Ensure an orderly flow of work and analysis integrity. Maintains and support calibration on all lab equipment. Problem solving and trouble shooting.
  • Assure micro product releases are completed in SAP and communicated in timely manner.
  • Manage Consumer Complaint investigations and follow-up process.
  • Manage Supplier Quality Reports (DMR) and follow-up process in Enablon.
  • Investigate/Follow-up on DMR material/report with Vendor technical service representatives and procurement for proper disposition.
  • Support Quality Manager on Field Quality Report (FQR) investigations and follow up process in Enablon.
  • Manage and coordinate sample collection and disposition of test samples in Quality Retain location.
  • Act as lead between Quality and other departments to investigate, evaluate, mediate, and/or act on any problems, questions and/or concerns related to wine and materials quality in Packaging/Bottling.
  • Manage supplies/consumable for lab - order supplies to ensure inventories are adequate and available for Quality.
  • Liaison with packaging technology/engineering on all site trials including packaging material and shelf-life trials.
  • Oversee the activities pertaining to regulatory/quality records and reporting, Quality Document control, and Winery Performance Metrics collection and communication.
  • Analyze Quality Process Data to determine focal point for process improvement. Work with Process Control Change Parameters to improve consistency of Process Operation.
  • Interface with other Production Processes to ensure those customer requirements and needs are being achieved.
  • Assure that all laboratory data are obtained in a timely and economical fashion and that this data is communicated in a clear, comprehensible format.
  • Oversees writing, updating, and maintaining laboratory procedures manual. Participates in the development and review of packaging and winemaking procedures/processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, microbiology, or other related science discipline (Food Safety).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an analytical Lab (equivalent combination of education & experience is acceptable).
  • 2-5 years’ experience in leadership role.
  • Able to work mid Swing to early Grave shift and occasional weekends and overtime.
  • Prior experience in method development, validation and documentation preferred.
  • Knowledge of various wine types, seltzers, and spirits.
  • Knowledge of analytical procedures.
  • Knowledge of wine packaging and engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge of wine microbes and microbiological analyses.
  • Detail oriented and quality focused

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with databases, spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Strong math skills.
  • Experience in a high-volume production environment is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with HACCP, FSMA and GMPs
  • 3+ years of Supervisory experience
  • Wine & Spirits Experience

The salary range for this role is:
$64,800.00 - $95,200.00
