Position Summary

The selected candidate will work full-time in a hybrid work environment with the primary work location being at government offices at Fort Belvoir, VA with flexibility for remote/home office work based on project requirements. The person in this role is responsible for leading and setting the tone for the project’s on-site systems engineering architecting, principally creating, and integrating engineering and project plan designs, and interacting daily with government stakeholders to advance the project effort and deliver solutions. This includes conducting regular technical capability integration meetings and project reviews with government stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for a successful applicant to modernize the future of the Army’s campaign analysis software. This role will require creativity and innovation to combine the discipline of Systems Engineering with broader program and government customer objectives. In this role, the candidate must conceptualize solutions, define product roadmaps, and understand how to integrate new technical approaches within software algorithms to meet customer needs. The candidate will synthesize inputs from government stakeholders, corporate subject matter experts, corporate domain engineers, and developers and then deliver recommendations for government approval.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordination with the sponsor representatives to define and develop priorities leading to the employment of modeling and simulation, analysis tools, and algorithms to support a common environment for Joint and Army campaign analysis.
  • Evaluating project aspects, including design, development, execution, and implementation of advances in computer science, data science, and cloud computing approaches.
  • Designing and developing systems architecture graphical representation in SysML, UML, or similar applications.
  • Review system data and source documents and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to:
    • Analyze and capture requirements for information technology systems and other analytical tools.
    • Identify capability needs and solution recommendations for product-level development priorities.
    • Identify solutions of strategic benefit to government client goals and objectives.
  • Connecting project requirements to modernization priorities, Data as a Service approaches, Modeling and Simulation as a Service technique, and Digital Engineering design principles.
  • Developing and implementing multi-year model maintenance and development plans.
  • Effectively communicate effective communication to understand and meet current customer needs, constraints, and resources while anticipating project direction and level of future project support requirements.
  • Overnight travel on an as needed basis, less than 10%. Some local travel in the Washington DC, National Capital Region is anticipated to support coordination across DoD organizations and Services.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)
  • 7+ years of experience with military service organizations spanning:
    • Project management, aligning and conducting tasks toward deliberate outcomes
    • Application of quantitative methods, data analysis, knowledge management
    • Systems engineering with architecting design (use of graphic design techniques and tools)
  • Communication and writing skills to develop and present point papers and briefings, to all levels of government personnel, including senior executives, General/Flag officers in the Department of Defense.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience with military service organizations spanning:
    • Campaign analysis
    • Force structure design
  • Software systems architecture
  • TS/SCI or SCI-eligible clearance
