Summary of Responsibilities:


The Spiritual Life Minister serves as a member of the Residential Treatment Team and is responsible for the delivery of spiritual life programming and services for children in psychiatric residential treatment at AK Child & Family.

As the Spiritual Life Minister you will be part of a team bringing hope to troubled young lives through a broad range of services. The qualified candidate will provide spiritual programs and services that offer the structure, care and expertise to help young people with trauma build strong, positive, healthy lives.

  • Age appropriate for the children.
  • All positions at AK Child & Family may have responsibilities altered during the course of employment due to agency imperatives.

All employees with AK Child & Family are required to be in compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid COVID vaccine mandate. The mandate requires that by 2/14/22, staff at all health care facilities must have received their first dose of a 2-shot series (Moderna or Pfizer, currently) or a single dose of a 1-shot vaccine (Johnson and Johnson, currently) with the exception of those that have sought and been granted an exemption to the COVID mandate. Staff must complete this step before they can provide any care, treatment or other services for the facility and/or its patients. By 3/15/22, all staff with the exception of those that have sought and been granted an exemption to the COVID mandate, must complete the primary vaccination series.

PAY

  • $19.00/hour+ DOE
  • 3% pay increase after successful completion of 6-month Intro Period



Supervision and Coordination of Services:

  • The Spiritual Life Minister is supervised by the Director of Spiritual Life.
  • Coordinates all program services with the Spiritual Life Director, Residential Supervisor, and the Treatment Program Supervisors in order to assure program coordination.



Qualifications:


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The Spiritual Life Minister has demonstrated ability to work positively with children and adolescents.
  • A working knowledge of child development and trauma informed care practices sufficient to understand the presenting issues of the students with whom s/he works and to develop spiritual life programming that is consistent with the treatment program of the students.
  • The Spiritual Life Minister possesses a strong ecumenical understanding and orientation, which allows for working with all ethnic groups and is supportive of diverse spiritual and religious viewpoints.
  • The Spiritual Life Minister demonstrates a theological orientation that is consistent with the mission and core values of AK Child & Family.

Education and experience:

  • The Spiritual Life Minister holds at least a Bachelor’s degree or 4 years equivalent formal training in a human service field including theology, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • The Spiritual Life Minister is a member in good standing with a recognized church, denomination, or local faith community.
  • The Spiritual Life Minister has at least two years’ experience working with youth in a community, residential, or clinical pastoral setting.



Physical Demands:


Physical demands upon the Spiritual Life Minister include the ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone, and with written correspondence, as well as successfully operate word processing and computer equipment, the ability to utilize their personal vehicle to attend to responsibilities on both campuses and attend meetings in person or via teleconference.
