Supply Technician, Richmond, VA

SUMMARY

Provide services in support of inventory control, storage and distribution, cataloging or supply identification systems, property utilization, or other related supply activities including those associated with automated or manual supply accounting systems. Manages aviation materials and resource tracking.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Conducts physical inventories and adjust and/or maintain inventory, stock, plant, or property account records.
  • Receives and screens lists or other documents specifying supplies or materials needed for planned programs or work operations and collate and assemble lists of equipment and parts needed for acquisition plans.
  • Initiates, prepares, edits, and processes requisitions to stock, commodity control, or other appropriate supply organizations.
  • Searches catalogs, records, or other data sources to obtain or correct stock numbers or to find authorized substitutes for stock items.
  • Contacts customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others to obtain material status information, follow up on urgently required items, and/or expedite delivery of material to work sites.
  • Processes documentation for stock item receipts, maintain such items in a supply room or similar storage area, issue material to shop or work center personnel, keep local stock records, reorder when stocks are low or at a specified reorder point, prepare standard reports such as variances between actual and estimated costs, and perform related stock receipt, storage, control, and issue functions for expendable and non-expendable items for a local organization.
  • Identifies requirements and requisition, issue, or distribute office and administrative supplies, forms, publications, or other printed materials.
  • Maintains an accurate accounting and reporting system for non-expendable property and perform standardized property management control processes.
  • Operates computer terminals or personal computers to perform records search, data input, and data corrections.
  • Oversees stock maintenance at or within prescribed levels and establish or adjust stock levels and reorder points using standard formulae and prescribed procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory or management authority.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED Tech school trained. Experience in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment.
  • Ability to conduct extensive searches for required information.
  • Experience using computer and automation systems
  • Knowledge of reconstructing records for complex supply transactions.
  • Ability to supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, or parts.
  • Ability to perform routine aspects of supply work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management.
  • Ability to work overtime and possibly on short notice.
  • Ability to pass Pre-Employment Physical.
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen.
  • Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.

  • Ability to work inside and outside in all environmental conditions; day, night, sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, cold climate, and hot climate.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
