Job Description

Starting pay: $22/hr
The Trainer is responsible for training movers and drivers as well as packing, moving and safely transporting household goods, office furniture and other heavy items while providing outstanding customer service to all TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® customers. The Trainer is also responsible for supporting the Branch Manager in the daily Operations of the franchise location and company efforts for continued team development. The Trainer should have general knowledge of functional support areas, including the core business, customer service and moving.

Responsibilities

  • Professionally and carefully packs, moves and transports customer’s goods and promotes and protects the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® brand
  • Continually maintains understanding of all company products, services, pricing, procedures, and policies including knowledge of the system in order to communicate the benefits and value of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and effectively overcome any customer objections
  • Continually participate in regular training and development programs offered through STICK MEN UNIVERSITY®
  • Maintain a positive image of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and lead by example
  • Safely move/pack/unpack customer’s belongings by utilizing all of the proper moving equipment and techniques and following the necessary prescribed policies
  • Ensure compliance of team and self with the policies and procedures laid out in the employee handbook and/or presented by management
  • Acts as the physical point of contact for customers, establishes a rapport and builds confidence in TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® services
  • Makes recommendations according to customer’s needs on moving services, boxes, supplies and equipment and other value-added services.
  • Calmly and professionally handles displeased customers and provides timely feedback to management regarding customer concerns
  • Keeps the customer and management informed of anticipated delays and any additional information needed to increase customer satisfaction and improve profitability
  • Must have the ability to communicate with the mover regarding customer service, moving/packing strategies and moving/packing techniques
  • Knowledgeable of all state and federal driving and interstate moving requirements
  • Conduct pre/post trip truck inspections and moving equipment inventory
  • Organize and secure truck at the end of each job and ensures truck and equipment is maintained in a clean, safe and professional manner
  • Accurately calculates the charges for services and completes all move-related paperwork and responsible for making sure paperwork and revenues collected are properly dropped in safe at the end of the work day
  • Trains employees in all aspects of the job and documents progress on training checklist
  • Trains employees on all safe moving/driving procedures, for example, proper backing up of the truck procedures, lifting techniques, etc.
  • Provides monthly retraining topics during Operations Meeting with team
  • Informs management of abilities, strengths, and weaknesses of movers and drivers
  • Trains employees throughout the entire workday to teach all essential job functions/duties
  • Provide immediate feedback to employees on all opportunities for improvement
  • Complies with all DOT, FMSCA, and OHSA regulations and guidelines
  • Ability to drive Company Vehicles while holding a Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Communicates to customers when there is a new employee being trained on the move
  • Communicates with Branch Manager on new employee progress and recommends additional training as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A high-school diploma or general education degree (GED) and clean driving record is required
  • Six months to one year of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® or moving industry experience is preferred
  • Is a team worker and must be able to listen and communicate in an effective, helpful and friendly manner with co-workers, customers and management
  • Must be proficient in use of mobile applications
  • Know, understand and perform in accordance with the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Mission Statement
  • Consistently set the example of acceptable performance, attitude, and attendance
  • Attendance: employee must maintain a good standing in this area. Employee must have zero no call, no shows and have no more than six points against them
  • In-House Training Classes: must complete in-house packing and storage classes provided through franchise Branch Manager, franchise, general manager and/or office manager
  • Online Training: must complete following training plans in STICK MEN UNIVERSITY® - Mover, Driver, and Trainer
  • Reply Card Scores: must maintain a monthly average score of 4.80 or higher
  • Damage Rate: employee can have no more than two damages per quarter
  • This position is considered safety sensitive and must be able to adhere to the policies in place throughout employment.
  • Language Skills: ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization; bilingual is a plus
  • Mathematical Skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of United States dollars and weight measurements, volume, distance and time
  • Reasoning Ability: ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations with limited standardized procedures. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished with written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Physical Demands: the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, sit, hear, use hands and fingers, handle, feel and/or life with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 50lbs unassisted and occasionally required to lift 100 pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Technical Demands: ability to use smart phones, tablets, various mobile apps, digital maps, Microsoft Office suite, scanning, digital cloud file storage, and video conferencing software

Work is generally performed in an office setting and at customer’s homes. Possible safety hazards. This position is exposed to varying outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures, precipitation, wind and other outdoor elements. Work involves exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, and unpleasant odors. Occasional overnight travel may be required. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® provides training to ensure employee safety.
