We are looking for a safety-oriented underground foreman. An Underground Foreman is responsible for overseeing the installation of Loop's underground infrastructure. An emphasis on safety is a must; both our crew members' safety and safely excavating around existing utilities.
- Works directly with management and underground construction teams to direct the daily activities and accomplish tasks in a safe, timely, and productive manner.
- Provides supervision and leadership for the crew, vehicles, materials, and crews’ production.
- Coordinate fiber placing and repair activities with internal departments, our fiber carriers, and customers.
- Keeps an up-to-date schedule for work and communicates that with management, staff, and our internal teams
- Openly share knowledge with the internal team
- Completes daily crew logs with accurate information for management in a timely manner.
- Safely operate heavy equipment and instruct new trainees.
- Follows OSHA, NESC, and Loop safety regulations and precautions when completing assigned work.
- Ensures all site work is properly set up for a safe environment, cones, signage, flaggers, along with local safety consideration for traffic awareness requiring law enforcement.
- Recognize priority issues and escalate accordingly.
- All other duties as assigned.
- 5+ years in line work in telecomm or utilities industries, or related field
- Extensive PA1Call knowledge.
- Experience safely locating and excavating around other utilities.
- Two or more years of utility OSP maintenance experience
- Ability to read and interpret OSP maps and designs.
- Knowledge of NESC, OSHA, and related state and local codes
- Strong planning, organizational, and follow up skills.
- Good analytical and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with multiple department staffs.
- Ability to learn new processes and procedures.
