Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm,

Reports to: Controller

Salary: $55,539 - $72,200 annually

Job Summary:

Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center + Rosemary Anderson High School (POIC + RAHS) is a minority-led nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing the highest quality services in education, mentoring, family outreach, employment training, and placement.

This position is responsible for recording and maintaining accounts payable and accounts receivable records while performing continual customer service by performing the following duties.

  • In collaboration with Senior Accountant and Program Directors, drafts all invoices to funding partners including all invoice substantiation required by contract agreements.

  • Processes all accounts receivable data and enters them into the accounting system (QuickBooks).

  • In collaboration with Senior Accountant and Program Directors, monitor spend down of contracts and agreements

  • Performs data entry as it relates to the accounting department.

  • Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.

  • Assists in monthly closings.

  • Prepares invoices for all contracts including the state, county, schools, school lunches, and other partners as needed.

  • Assists with year-end close and audit preparation.

  • Follows up on over-due outstanding accounts receivable invoices.

  • Answers account receivable phone inquiries and follow-ups.

  • Stays up to date on new funding agreements and invoicing requirements

  • Assists with related special projects, as required.

  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.

  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or finance preferred, with four or more years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficient knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel preferred.

  • Moderate to a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, preferred.

  • Experience with working in a non-profit accounting department is preferred.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Professional suite.
