Actuary

Fidelity Investments Life Insurance (FILI) is looking for an Actuary to help drive our future state digital Term Life Experience. Be part of a diverse team that builds, promotes, and supports Fidelity’s outstanding future state experience.

The Role

  • Lead the design, pricing and implementation of Term insurance products.
  • Drive and evaluate reinsurance opportunities
  • Provide support for an outstanding, groundbreaking digital experience; review product related marketing, sales and training materials.
  • Be responsible for the actuarial components of term state filings such as actuarial memorandums, demonstrations and state responses.
  • Develop and/or evaluate models that will allow clients to assess insurance needs.
  • Lead the evaluation of new underwriting data sources, accelerated underwriting program and tools to improve underwriting process, reduce cost and turnaround times, while minimizing mortality slippage.
  • Develop and analyze product experience including lapses, mortality, and expenses to identify trends and benchmark against pricing assumptions.
  • Present to senior management on a periodic basis.
  • Chance to lead a small team.
  • Potential to spend time on annuity, permanent life and long-term care product development and pricing and gain exposure to the full suite of Fidelity’s life insurance company’s product offering.


The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • BS in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or Physics
  • 15+ years of proven insurance experience
  • Fellow in the Society of Actuaries
  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries
  • Experience with individual life insurance and annuity product pricing and product development
  • Broad based insurance background including exposure to sales, marketing, systems, client services, underwriting and finance with a clear understanding of the interactions between these areas.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to help key constituents understand insurance products and explain sophisticated topics to non-technical people at all organizational levels
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships as you work collaboratively across teams
