The Commercial Banking Assistant will support Relationship Managers in the origination of new loans and management of credit portfolios. Commercial Banking Assistant will perform a variety of customer service and administrative functions necessary to support the relationship management of the C&I, CRE and investor real estate lending portfolio. This position will serve as a liaison between the Commercial Banking Team, customers, other bank departments and outside third parties in the loan origination and maintenance process.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for supporting a complex portfolio of customers and shares leadership role with Relationship Managers in managing a portfolio of assigned accounts.
- Independently and proactively handles customer issues, monitors past dues and maturities, and partners with the Commercial Banking Team in decision making process.
- Assists the Commercial Banking Team with collecting financial statements, covenant compliance and related reporting, clearing document exceptions, working past due loans, and processing loan renewals.
- Coordinates information gathering for loan requests and prepares loan packages for underwriting.
- Provides support with customer due diligence and onboarding, including customer and loan setup on the Baker Hill NextGen loan origination platform.
- Ensures compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures, including the BSA/AML policy.
- Acts as the customers’ main point of contact for operational questions and helps resolve identified issues.
- Assists with loan advances, payments, and wire transfers and related documentation.
- Participates in customer meetings to build relationships, handle loan documentation and assist with identification of cross-sell and referral opportunities.
- Participates in sales and portfolio management meetings.
- Works on other projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Five plus (5+) years of account relationship management support and/or customer service experience in a commercial lending environment.
- Strong knowledge of commercial lending process, documentation, laws, regulations and compliance.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills; attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to identify cross-sell opportunities and participate in complex customer transactions.
- Ability to work well independently and on a team developing collaborative partnerships across the banking platform.
- Knowledge and understanding of Anti Money Laundering and Bank Secrecy Act.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of banking systems (Baker Hill NextGen, Jack Henry, Synergy, SilverLake).
Salary Grade = 9
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.
Physical Demands
This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and opening cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.
Travel
