Behavioral Health Specialist
Provide mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment and crisis intervention services for adults and/or children who present themselves with a broad range of mental health needs. Specialists in behavioral health provide counseling and direction to people dealing with challenges like addiction, physical limitations and mental illness.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate clinical treatment programs for the diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral of individuals
- Prepare treatment plans and case summaries
- Perform assessments
- Provide Outpatient Therapy
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The Licensed Mental Health Professional is required to provide general oversight of clinical service delivery by conducting assessments, developing and/or modifying treatment plans, and discharge planning. As such they must have the following knowledge skills and abilities
- Strong clinical background in evidence-based practices
- Strong psychosocial assessment and treatment planning skills
- Ability to build and sustain relations in the community
- Knowledge of community mental health and public health resources in order to provide advocacy
- Ability to communicate effectively to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to receive minimal supervision regarding use of time and able to prioritize work assignments
- Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations
- Working knowledge and/or experience with crisis stabilization services
- Observing and assessing patients' behavior.
- Developing and implementing treatment plans to address behavioral issues.
- Supporting patients throughout the treatment process.
- Communicating with patients' teachers, caregivers, and families to implement treatment plans.
- Monitoring and recording treatment progress.
- Conducting assessments to determine patients' improvements.
- Maintaining patient records and treatment reports.
- Collaborating with other healthcare specialists and support organizations.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Master's Degree (Required)
- Licensed Professional Counselor or Clinical Psychologist
- LMSW, LPC, PHD Psychologist
- A minimum of three years of clinical experience working with the population served and providing the following services: conducting assessments, reviewing assessments, developing and implementing treatment plan objectives, providing individual and family therapy, and providing crisis/behavioral interventions.
