Overview

Pineapple Express is a legal cannabis company with a Corporate Office located near Century City in West Los Angeles and our first retail store located at the corner of Hollywood & Vine in Hollywood. We are in the process of opening a scheduled 7-8 more stores in Los Angeles between now and the end of 2023. We are looking for General Managers for our new stores, all located in Los angeles. The General Manager is responsible for leading by example through the execution of the company’s mission, vision, and values. They will aim to develop a high-performing team that consistently delivers and drives results that meet the company’s objectives while building brand loyalty. As the business unit leader, the General Manager works closely with the Executive team to proactively identify and respond to business needs and support strategy development around business trends; while also being responsible for implementing marketing and promotional campaigns and providing timely reporting on key performance metrics. This individual drives their team’s performance through a focus on customer service, sales, training, and development, product knowledge, customer loyalty, building brand rapport, visual merchandising, compliance, delivery, and operations. This position manages all employees in each area of operations within the store.

Expectations

  • Responsible for overseeing the financial success of the store, strategizing around business trends to drive profitable top line sales growth, meeting or exceeding goals related to total store sales, profitability, and operational excellence
  • Assess, recruit, develop, and screen new hire candidates using company programs, tools, and resources
  • Own the onboarding process for all new hires, including and creating a training schedule and development plan for any areas of improvement
  • Complete monthly plus/delta performance reviews, including creating and implementing measurable development plans
  • Issue counseling forms to address and correct performance issues with the store team, which include weekly follow-ups to discuss improvements and accomplishments
  • Manage a team of Store Managers, Inventory Manager, Leads, and 20+ Canncierges (Budtenders/Sales Associates) to execute performance objectives and goals while being accountable for all aspects of managing retail store operations, including meeting store sales goals
  • Analyze and interpret financial and operational reports daily, weekly, and monthly to measure the performance of the store and the team
  • Leverage company programs, tools, and resources to improve and grow the business
  • Lead the store team to implement all aspects of Merchandising and Marketing, including day-to-day merchandising, monthly floorsets, product launches, marketing activations, CADs, communicating promotions and measuring their performance, and brand partnership initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork and growth by working alongside the management team, establishing priorities, completing assigned tasks, and providing clear direction
  • Protect company assets and minimize loss by ensuring all store standards and operating procedures are met, including workplace safety, inventory control, compliance, and loss prevention

  • Manage scheduling and publish the schedule for the store to ensure each area of the store has the appropriate coverage to support marketing and company initiatives while focusing on delivering an excellent customer experience
  • Complete a weekly payroll analysis to ensure payroll hours and wages for the store are meeting company goals
  • Forecast and adjust payroll to maximize productivity, and achieve sales & payroll goals
  • Effectively delegate tasks to your leadership team to ensure operational deadlines are met to meet company goals
  • Oversee inventory control for the store, including scheduling inventory counts, managing shrink goals, correctly merchandising products online and in-store, and keeping the inventory areas cleaned and organized
  • Provide leadership, training, guidance and support to team members that fosters continuous learning and improvement in performance of the store.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Ability to maintain the visual aesthetic of the store design through visual merchandising
  • 5+ years of managerial experience, preferably in a retail-based industry with a customer-centric approach
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve sales and store goals to meet company objectives
  • Proven ability to drive results, analyze reports and report results, identify business opportunities, and assess business needs to meet performance expectations
  • Experience in training and developing store teams and leadership
  • Thrives in a highly regulated industry and a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to identify, attract, recruit, train, and develop an exceptional team
  • Proficient in G-suite and creating reports
  • Proficient in composing professional emails to communicate store performance to the corporate leadership team

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This position requires a flexible schedule, long hours, nights, weekend work, and holiday availability.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to bend, lift, open, and move product and fixtures up to 30 lbs., as needed
  • Ability to climb step stools and ladders
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods at a time
  • Possess manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to travel to other store locations (if needed) and attend district meetings
