Job Description

The BUUSD School Community Liaison will be responsible for supporting students who are not attending school or are having a hard time consistently engaging in school. The overall goal of the position is to promote and ensure wrap-around services for a caseload of students so that students attend and thrive in school. This position will work closely with families to be the connection between teachers, school administration, local services and service providers and students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, community resources, mental health agencies, and school personnel;Use home visits as a means to build relationships with student and family;Acting as the district Mc Kinney Vento Act (MVA) Liaison, determine if referred families meet MVA criteria set forth by the state and federal governmentMaintain regular communication with families experiencing homelessness, provide outreach to families and work collaboratively with MVA Program Coordinator and MVA Admin Assistant to support family and students' needs.

Support the truancy process for all students, including: paperwork, letters to families, documentation of attendance, and working with DCF/States Attorney Office;Collaborate regularly with community agencies, school counselors and registrar and other key members of the families support systems;
