The Division of Epidemiology at the University of Utah is seeking a Grants/Contracts Officer to join our administrative team. The Grants and Contracts Officer, under the direction of the Associate Director of Research & Science, will work directly with researchers and will be essential to their success.
This position provides complex administrative support for various labs and/or shared resources cores, including grant pre- and post-award support, travel planning, event coordination, and navigation of University systems.
Three years full-time secretarial experience and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.

Responsibilities
  • With basic oversight from a supervisor, completes basic proposal preparation and develops submission skills. Completes basic award administration for activities including award set-up, modification, and maintenance for the department’s most common sponsors.
  • Provides support for Award review/tracking. Completes project-related A/P and A/R activities for basic contracts. Basic understanding of budget categories and can input/assist in those reporting activities.
  • Familiar with University and department research administration pre-award systems, processes, and policies required for proposal submission
  • Familiar with common sponsor systems, processes, and policies required for proposal submission
  • Work with colleagues and manager to complete and track assignments
  • Effectively interface with internal and external professionals
  • Issues are routine and involve little evaluation and interpretation. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences, following established policies and procedures with analysis of the issue, requiring moderate innovation and creativity.
  • Increasing specialized knowledge in area of assignment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • GED or HS Diploma
  • Four years’ related experience or a related Associate’s Degree.
