We are looking for a corporate counsel with expertise in Data Privacy and Web Accessibility laws, and experience working with tech startups (ideally in the SaaS sector).

This is not your typical corporate counsel job. Our corporate counsel role is a unique opportunity to work on both the legal and the technical and business sides of the company. You will provide legal services such as drafting contracts, intellectual property filings, marketing compliance, and website and software agreements. You will also work closely with other departments to help us grow sustainably. For example, you will software team to improve the user experience, the marketing team to create content (articles and/or videos) about data privacy and business best practices, and help the president implement the business growth strategy and prepare to seek our first round of funding.

In summary, we are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who wants to work both on the legal and business aspects of the company.

  Review marketing materials and content for legal compliance, including advertising copy, disclosures, disclaimers, and substantiation for advertising claims.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive privacy policies, terms of use, and other public-facing legal documents for the company's websites and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, IT, and human resources, to implement data protection and privacy best practices, and marketing compliance.
• Monitor and stay up-to-date on legal and regulatory developments in marketing, data privacy, and AI, and provide proactive advice to the business.
• Provide legal guidance on data privacy, data protection, and information security matters
• Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, partners, and clients, including data processing agreements, software licenses, and marketing agreements.
• Manage entity maintenance and corporate governance for the company
• Assists in the management of regulatory filings and compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Create articles and/or videos about web accessibility, data privacy, and business best practices
• Assist in preparing for our first round of funding

• JD degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in the state of employment
• At least 3 years of experience as a corporate counsel or in a similar role in a technology company
• Expertise in data privacy laws and web accessibility regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, ADA, and WCAG
• Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, intellectual property filings, marketing compliance, and website and software agreements
• Ability to work collaboratively with the software team to enhance the user experience of our software
• Ability to support the president in executing the business growth strategy
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable to a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Passionate about improving the lives of people with disabilities
