Job Title: Courtesy Clerk

Reports to: Front End Manager

Position Summary: Assists in the upkeep of the front end, while providing customer service to our customers.

Job duties:

• Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact, responds to requests for service and assistance in a timely manner, exceeding customer expectations
• Assists customers by finding items and helping them to their car
• Bags like groceries together while using the least possible number of bags
• Checks for bottom of the basket
• Retrieves shopping carts from parking lot and returns them to proper location for customer use and completes shopping cart retrieval log
• Retrieves stray baskets and returns them to proper area for customer use
• Upkeeps the cleanliness of carts and baskets by removing trash and discards appropriately
• Pulls out items from shelves to front by arranging products to be at least two high and two deep (with the exception of top shelf)
• Provides basic cleaning of store including spills, hourly checks of grocery floor to complete sweep & mop log
• Returns stray items/returns to their proper area, while maintaining product freshness by returning all perishables and frozen items to their proper areas promptly

and removes damaged products from sales floor

• Refills bag wells of front end, takes out trash, and sweeps up parking lot
• Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager
  

Capabilities:

• Stand for long periods of time, very frequent walking back and forth to assist all registers
• Frequent usage of arms and hands to bag groceries
• Carry up to 40 pounds
• Push and pull up to seven shopping carts, during their retrieval
• Use proper safety procedures
• Able to listen to directions and follow through independently
• Good communication and observation skills

Job skills:

• Previous experience working with the public
  

Environment:

• Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind while retrieving wagons/helping customers to their car, and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill
• Very fast paced
