POSITION PURPOSE: We are looking for a fearless and accountable Asst. Deli Team Lead who is positive and passionate! With a focus on providing superior customer service and leading a successful Deli/Bistro team, the Asst. Deli Team Lead is a Team Lead in training, someone who strives to meet department goals and objectives while providing customers with product expertise and the freshest, tastiest and highest quality deli/bistro products. An Asst. Deli Team Lead is a responsible team player and always ready to learn. An Asst. Deli Team Lead can work at a fast pace, has a keen eye for safety and will be able to help execute an assortment of duties throughout the store.

Responsibilities: An Asst. Deli Team Lead is a responsible, friendly person who can safely work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service.

An Asst. Deli Team Lead’s responsibilities include:

  • In the Deli/Bistro Team Leader's absence, directing department personnel, meeting department's goals and objectives, communicating directly with the store director and deli/bistro department supervisors, ordering the products and supplies necessary to maintain adequate stock levels and keep merchandising levels at deli/bistro standards.
  • Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members
  • Engaging with customers through smiles and greetings, offering product information, providing selling suggestions and active sampling and always giving a genuine thank you.
  • Overseeing the preparation and serving/merchandising of deli/bistro food service items, which includes such items as, breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees, fried chicken and other fried foods, roasting chickens, pizzas, prepared salads, sandwiches, and other meal items for hot cases, salad cases, and steam tables.
  • The merchandising, slicing and weighing of prepared deli meats and cheeses.
  • Displaying deli/bistro merchandise, such as pre-cut cheeses, packaged salads, and snack items, following del/bistro department and/or company merchandising guidelines.
  • Attentively rotating deli/bistro items for sale, ensuring quality and safety and product shrink control.
  • Meeting all county, city and company food safety and sanitation guidelines and policies.
  • Receiving merchandise for sale and supplies, auditing invoices, breaking down orders, positioning cases of products in the deli storage area or in refrigerated walk-in coolers or frozen food walk-ins' freezers.
  • Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members.
  • Processing cash register transactions, giving back change, and refunds.
  • Using scale printer machine, ensuring weights and pricing are correct.
  • Understanding the importance of monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement as well as the use of product shelf tags and shelf signage.
  • Keeping clean, neat and orderly sales counters, food prep areas, warehouse shelving and walk-in coolers and freezers.
  • Working safely around sharp slicers, tools and hot ovens and burners.
  • Taking customer orders, ensuring orders are completed on time and to the customer's satisfaction.
  • All other related duties as assigned

The Asst. Deli Team Lead’s responsibilities will primarily be in the Deli department but may also work in other departments as needed.

Qualifications:

Desired qualifications include:

  • Friendly and customer service oriented. Interest in food and cooking a plus.
  • Customer service, restaurant, barista, food service, grocery or similar experience desired
  • Self-motivated, with a high attention to detail, quality and presentation
  • Skills to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to work independently, effectively manage time and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read, understand and follow through on verbal and written directions
  • Ability to reliably meet required work schedule and adhere to company attendance policy
  • Must be 18 years of age

Employees may occasionally experience the following physical demands for an extended period:

Standing, Sitting, Lifting + Stocking (Up to 50 lbs.), Pushing, Keyboarding, Telephone Use, Walking, Bending

Salary Ranges:

The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonably expects to pay for the position.

Maximum Pay Rate: $ 16.10/Hr.
