• BS / MS Robotics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or similar field) • 10+ years of experience designing complex electromechanical systems • 5+ years of experience managing technical teams designing complex electromechanical systems • Proven success in leading company-wide, complex electromechanical development projects from concept to production that meet demanding customer requirements and schedules • Deep understanding of the business and end user needs, and can proficiently translate those needs into the right technology solution • Strong understanding of business analysis (ROI, cost-benefit analysis) • Commitment to rigorous testing practices, continuous improvement, and developing high quality products • Resolves complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways • Experience with best practices for CAD, product lifecycle management (PLM), and bug tracking tools • Brings a department and company-wide perspective to detailed technical decisions • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Strong organizational and planning skills • Extensive experience interacting with customers and partners • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Hardware Manager who innovates, loves solving hard problems, and never takes "no" for an answer. You will work hard, have fun, and of course, make history!
The primary role of the MSP team is to drive future innovation across all aspects of Customer Fulfillment and Packaging, from advancement of new materials to development of automation utilizing deep analytics and machine learning to determine the smartest, most efficient way to deliver packages to our customers. We drive global partnerships with key stakeholders such as Operations, Supply Chain, Transportation, World-Wide (WW) Design, etc. to ensure we deliver robust products that effectively integrate into the Amazon Fulfillment network.
A successful candidate will have broad experience and deep skills in concept design to production across a broad array of hardware platforms with demonstrated experience integrating complex systems with high quality and reliability across never-been-done-before projects which include a high degree of ambiguity. You will be required to work successfully across multiple engineering disciplines and operations teams to drive first-time right engineering to deliver products which have a broad impact for Amazon. This candidate requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, collaboration, analytical and abstract thinking, time management and organizational skills.

  • Transforming the hardware design processes with the objective of achieving - innovative product designs, reduced total cost of ownership, quick time to market, industry leading quality, and a highly productive team
  • Scoping, managing, and delivering multiple strategic technical projects in parallel from concept to production with significant bottom-line impact
  • Developing and reporting performance metrics for the hardware engineering team to peers and executives
  • Maintaining high level of communications with cross-functional team, partners, and the leadership team
  • Drive best practices between engineering and operations teams from product concept to production availability
  • Hold Supplier/Vendor teams accountable for requirements compliance, design quality and system delivery

• Capital project management skills • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging and/or consolidation technologies, and systems including robotics, and high speed manufacturing • Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members, operations, and management • Project managing skills to start projects and finish projects successfully • Ability to travel 25% to business locations and project sites • Knowledge of UL, CE, and OSHA regulations including machinery standards and functional safety, e.g. EN ISO 12100, IEC 61508, and EN ISO 13849 Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,600/year in our highest geographic market.
