Job Description

A Truck Dispatcher needs to be highly detailed and work well under pressure to coordinate lots of changing factors. While their main priority is scheduling trucks efficiently, other Truck Dispatcher job duties include:

• Managing truck drivers’ schedules and routes
• Scheduling freight to be picked up and delivered
• Providing shipping details to customers
• Reviewing logs of truck drivers
• Documenting all calls, deliveries, routes and times for pickups and deliveries
• Completing paperwork related to shipments, such as invoices
• Handling customer complaints and inquiries
• Negotiating rates and delivery time lines
• Knowledge of trucking regulations and laws
• Understanding of how shipping, trucking and logistics work
• Analytical skills to problem-solve and coordinate difficult situations
• Ability to handle upset customers
• Technology skills, particularly in transportation management software
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills to clearly relay information to all involved parties
• Ability to stay calm in fast-paced situations

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 12 hour shift
• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
• On call
• Weekend availability

Supplemental pay types:

• Bonus pay
• Signing bonus

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Memphis, TN: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Dispatching: 1 year (Preferred)

Work Location: In person
