Job Description

Caperton Walling Law Firm, PLLC is a Dallas/Ft. Worth area law firm with a quickly growing divorce and family law practice. Our team is experienced, dedicated, resourceful, and bold.

We are seeking an experienced divorce and family law paralegal with 2+ years of recent experience in Texas as a divorce and family law paralegal and the ability to handle a case from start to finish yourself. Like we are, you too must be experienced, dedicated, resourceful, and bold.

The position is part-time for now and is hybrid. Almost all work can be done remotely. It is designed to start with providing about 20 hours of work per week, perhaps for a paralegal performing contract work for other clients too. It is our intent to hire this lawyer as a full-time employee with benefits if performance warrants it and you would like.

Responsibilities

  • Draft legal documents such as petitions, applications, motions, briefs, orders, final judgments, Rule 11's, discovery, subpoenas, affidavits, correspondence, and all other documents involved in family law. You should be able to choose and build the first draft
  • Keep track of key dates, keep the right people informed, and prioritize your time so that we never miss a deadline
  • Pay extraordinary attention to detail
  • Work directly with clients to collect and organize information; be empathetic and able to relate to people in crisis; and advise clients on best practices to minimize client stress, put them at ease, and mitigate client risk during the proceedings
  • Coordinate witnesses
  • Conduct research
  • Prepare and organize mediation, hearing, and trial notebooks and exhibits
  • Attend hearings and meetings to assist lawyers
  • Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate and other administrative duties as needed
  • Communicate with other key parties including investigators, CPA's, real estate professionals, etc.
  • Be creative, organized, efficient, and able to multitask
  • Advise clients of non-legal considerations and resources to help prepare them for life during and after the case

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of recent Texas divorce and family law experience
  • Possess high-level verbal and written skills to communicate with clients, attorneys, and court personnel effectively
