The Fastener Solutions business unit of Avery Dennison is a worldwide manufacturer of plastic fastening systems used in the automotive, apparel, retail, industrial and packaging industries. Our three-shift injection molding and extrusion operation is located in Fitchburg, MA. The Fastener Solutions business unit is ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certified.

Job Description

We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Fastener Solutions located in Fitchburg, MA reporting to the Regional Plant Manager.

About your role

As the EHS Specialist, you will serve as a key member of the site Fastener Solutions team. Your key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing programs and developing facility specific procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory and Company requirements.
  • Integration of Company and facility level EHS management systems to maintain compliance, environmental protection and safe operating conditions.
  • Tracking and regularly reporting the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining OSHA 300 log, form 101, and all other governmental and corporate database records.
  • Coordinating and controlling an effective accident prevention program.
  • Implementing education and training to support regulatory and business requirements.
  • Function as the contractor-plant representative to ensure compliance of all Process Safety Management (PSM) related requirements from contractors.
  • Acting as a resource and coach to facility safety teams.
  • Investigating all releases, injuries and near-misses.
  • Coordinating the Job Safety Analysis program and OSHA PPE compliance program and maintaining the SDS system.
  • Conducting periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety and sanitary standards and regulations.
  • Driving continuous improvement and delivering strong results from behavioral based processes.

Qualifications


What we will be looking for in you:

  • 5 years of experience in EHS
  • Demonstrated experience of sophisticated work assignment or educational project getting results on EHS work assignments with progressive complexity, depth and scope.
  • Advanced professional EHS certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, QEP, CEA, REM etc.) preferred but not required. Experience with behavioral based safety initiatives preferred.
  • Good knowledge of regulatory requirements and EHS policies, procedures and programs.
  • Good Project/Problem Resolution skills.
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and function specific software.
  • Think strategically and have strong leadership skills with good interpersonal communications.
  • Strong coaching, facilitating and training skills with the flexibility to support a 24 hour 7 day manufacturing schedule.
