Job Description
Overview:
This position develops and provides justification for distribution reliability programs, provides reliability related engineering and project management support to operations, interprets and investigates reliability results and data to identify and implement prudent methods, standards, etc. that lead to improved distribution reliability performance.
Responsibilities:
- Gathers, correlates and analyzes reliability outage data to evaluate/suggest capital investment projects, programs and strategies.
- Assists in the development of operating/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs and procedures.
- Performs detailed and/or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests and analysis.
- Prepares and presents reports, requiring self-analysis and recommendations, for related system reliability, compliance and/or engineering activities.
- Supports operating and maintenance functions with engineering analysis, troubleshooting, problem identification, problem resolution activities.
- Troubleshoots and identifies the root cause of momentary and sustained interruptions and recommends corrective action.
- Troubleshoots failed electronic devices and wireless communications issues between DSCADA and electronic devices in the field.
Provides technical support and training to Distribution Operations personnel.
- Directs the activities of coops, bargaining/hourly employees and others, as instructed, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, etc.
- Available during and following major outage events to support restoration efforts.
- Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Plans and controls all activities to provide an accident-free work place.
- Conducts work activities consistent with environmental rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as directed by management.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- ABET accredited Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to use formal engineering training in practical application to electric distribution engineering assignments. Ability to work independently. High degree of integrity and self-direction required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
